Hello Visitor,
As part of our new topic, ‘Perilous Pirates’, we are planning on holding a wow day for the children. They are invited to dress up as a pirate for the day on Friday 18th October.
Please do not spend money buying an outfit. See if you have an old shirt or top to at home your child can wear or dressing up clothes are fine too. Maybe you could make a pirate hat together. There are lots of free/ upcycled ideas online.
On this day, we will be making pirate hard-tack biscuits, as well as icing rich tea biscuits (as most children prefer the taste of these to the hard-tack biscuits!) and making our own fruit salads. Throughout the day, we will be making many comparisons between our own diet and a pirate’s diet, discussing which is healthier and more appealing.
We have included all of the ingredients that we will use. Please check these and make sure that everything is ok for your child/children to touch and eat:
Sea biscuit (hardtack biscuits) recipe: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1HxsNZrVubhps38920_Ujum_MvEpb1t4s/view?usp=sharing
Rich tea biscuits
Icing sugar
A variety of fresh fruits will be used for the fruit salad
If there are any concerns about the ingredients used, please speak to either your child/children’s class teacher or one of our support staff on the door in the mornings and they will pass on the message.
To us help cover our costs, we are asking for £1 donation per child. Please send this into the office by Monday 14th October.
Thank you for your continued support,
Year KS1 team
