The Curriculum at Higham Ferrers Nursery and Infant school

Curriculum

Our curriculum is designed to provide a broad and balanced educational experience, nurturing children’s academic and personal growth through the principles of possibility, diversity and growth.  It is carefully planned and sequenced so that new knowledge and skills build on previous learning, ensuring a cohesive and progressive educational journey, bespoke to the children’s needs.  By focussing on possibility, we inspire children to explore their potential and embrace challenges.  Our commitment to diversity ensures that children engage with a variety of perspectives and cultures, enriching their learning experience. Growth is nurtured in every aspect, as we support children in their continuous development. Through this thoughtfully structured curriculum, we aim to equip children with the knowledge, skills and values they need to thrive both in school and beyond so that they reach their full potential both academically and socially.

Our curriculum is designed on a two-year cycle to effectively support our KS1 mixed-age classes.  This approach ensures that all children, regardless of age, receive a comprehensive and well-rounded education without repetition or gaps in their learning.  Over the two-year cycle each subject area is planned and sequenced to cover a full range of topics and skills. This structure allows teachers to adapt teaching, meeting the needs and abilities of all children in the same classroom.  By the end of the two-year cycle, all children will have covered the same core content, ensuring continuity and progression in their learning.
